GABION RENO MATTRESS
Renos - Ideal Erosion Control Matting
Reno mattresses are thin, flexible cages which are made of hexagonal, double twisted woven wire mesh. Natural rock is used to fill the cages and this allows them to blend into the environment. This stops erosion, preserves the environment and encourages natural vegetation growth which in turn provides a more visually appealing landscape. Renos and Gabions have been used successfully around the world for over 100 years for river and creek beds, channel linings, soil retention and stabilising embankments and slopes. There are many advantages to using Gabions and Reno mattresses which helps make them the preferred choice in many large civil projects as well as in smaller domestic situations.
Location: Blakeview, South Australia.
In 2010 Prospect Contractors installed Reno Mattresses to the man-made creek bed at Blakes Crossing, North of Adelaide. The creek will take road and domestic water runoff to the wetlands. A series of four weirs were also installed at Craigmore Road.
In 2016 Prospect Contractors also installed Gabions and Renos to Blue Tongue Creek and
constructed a dry stack wall around a culvert.
Location: Richmond, Queensland
Prospect Contractors installed 3900m2 of Reno mattresses on both the upstream and downstream sides of a new 8m wide road after floods washed away the track over the Stawell River on the Richmond to Croydon Road in Queensland. 150m3 of Gabions were also used to anchor the Reno mattresses to the river bed.
