Woodville West | The Square | Gabion Case Study
Updated: Jun 25, 2019
Prospect Contractors recently installed several Gabion walls at Linear Reserve, at the new sub-development “The Square”, Woodville West.
Linear Reserve adjacent to the railway line at Woodville West features a 200m long Gabion within the railway corridor. The 2m high Gabion wall also act as a retaining wall to a storm water detention basin that can hold up to 2,300m3 of storm water runoff.
Prospect Contractors also constructed several stepped retaining walls creating an amphitheater type area that will used as a recreational lawn area during drier months. The scope of work included a 24m long curved, feature wall as well as several smaller stepped walls. The lower Gabion walls contain free draining loam and river pebbles for easy draining when water flows through. Stepped Gabions were also installed at a second set of steps leading down into an opened grassed area.
In the next stage, Prospect Contractors will be installing several low Rockweld (Gabion weldmesh) entrance walls.
